ScholarMate is a scholarship matching platform that helps students find scholarships they actually qualify for. It indexes over 900,000 scholarships and uses AI-powered matching to score each one against a student's unique profile, so students can focus on the opportunities where they have the best chances.
How does ScholarMate find scholarships for me?
When you create a free profile, you enter details like your GPA, major, state, demographics, and interests. ScholarMate's matching algorithm compares your profile against the eligibility criteria of every scholarship in the database and assigns each one a match score from 0 to 100. Higher scores mean you're more likely to qualify.
Is ScholarMate free?
Yes. ScholarMate offers a free plan that includes browsing all 900,000+ scholarships, basic search, match scores on scholarship cards, and up to 5 detail views per day. You can create a profile and start finding scholarships without paying anything.
How much does ScholarMate Pro cost?
ScholarMate Pro costs $7.99 per month or $49.99 per year. The yearly plan saves 48% compared to monthly billing. Pro includes unlimited detail views, full match breakdowns, application tracking, deadline reminders, essay bank access, and priority support. You can cancel anytime.
What's the difference between free and Pro?

How many scholarships does ScholarMate have?
ScholarMate currently indexes over 900,000 scholarships worth more than $4 billion in total funding. The database is updated daily with new opportunities from verified sources including colleges, foundations, companies, and community organizations.
What information do I need to create a profile?
At minimum, you need an email address. For the best matching results, you should provide your GPA, major, education level, state of residence, ethnicity, gender, citizenship status, financial need level, and any extracurricular activities or career goals. The more you fill out, the more accurate your match scores will be.
How does the matching algorithm work?
ScholarMate's matching algorithm evaluates 14 factors from your profile — including GPA, major, state, demographics, financial need, first-generation status, citizenship, extracurriculars, and career goals — against each scholarship's eligibility criteria. It produces a score from 0 to 100. A score of 90-100 means you meet nearly all criteria; 50-70 means partial match; below 50 means you're unlikely to qualify.
Are the scholarships on ScholarMate legitimate?
Yes. Every scholarship in the ScholarMate database is sourced from verified providers including accredited colleges and universities, established foundations, corporations, and community organizations. We do not list scholarships that require payment to apply, and we remove expired or fraudulent listings.
Can I use ScholarMate on my phone?
Yes. ScholarMate is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, and desktops. There is no separate app to download — just visit scholarmates.org in your mobile browser for the full experience.
How often are new scholarships added?
New scholarships are added daily. Our system continuously scans verified sources to find new opportunities and update existing listings with current deadlines and award amounts, so you always have access to the latest scholarships.
Do I need a high GPA to find scholarships?
No. While some scholarships have GPA requirements, many do not. ScholarMate indexes scholarships for all GPA levels, including need-based awards, community service scholarships, creative scholarships, and no-essay scholarships that don't consider grades at all. The matching algorithm shows you what you qualify for regardless of GPA.
Are there scholarships for high school seniors?
Yes. ScholarMate indexes thousands of scholarships specifically for high school seniors, including merit-based awards, community scholarships, and major national programs. Many have deadlines throughout the year, so it's never too late to start searching.
Are there no-essay scholarships?
Yes. No-essay scholarships are awards that don't require a written essay as part of the application. They may ask for a short form, video, or creative project instead. ScholarMate labels effort levels on every listing so you can easily filter for quick-apply scholarships.
How do I apply for scholarships through ScholarMate?
ScholarMate provides direct links to each scholarship's official application page. You can view the full eligibility requirements, deadlines, and award amounts on each scholarship's detail page, then click through to apply. Pro users can also track their application status and set deadline reminders.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. ScholarMate uses industry-standard encryption and secure authentication. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. You can read our full privacy policy at scholarmates.org/privacy.
Can international students use ScholarMate?

Some scholarships are open to international students, and you can filter for those by setting your citizenship status in your profile. However, the majority of listed scholarships require US citizenship or permanent residency.
